Tamara Smart, a 19-year-old actress, has been cast in season two of Disney’s hit series Percy Jackson and The Olympians.
The gifted adolescent announced the news on Instagram with the phrase, “Ok, we’ll tell you…””Tamara Smart is Thalia Grace.”
According to JustJared.com, if you’re not up to speed on Greek mythology in Percy Jackson’s world, here’s a brief refresher!
Thalia, Zeus’ Demigod daughter, made her last stand to protect her comrades at the outskirts of Camp Half-Blood.

Rather than letting her die, Zeus changed her into a tree that anchors the camp’s force field.
Thalia is tough and prickly, with a rebel/punk mindset. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and wary of her father’s world.
In a statement, the Percy Jackson & The Olympians author and TV executive producer expressed his delight at having Smart portray Thalia.
“Thalia Grace is a key character in the Percy Jackson universe, thus casting was vital.
Thalia is a formidable warrior, a passionately loyal friend, and a demigod rebel with a distinct ‘punk’ / ‘rage-against-the-machine’ mindset.

When we saw Tamara Smart in this part, we knew we had found Zeus’ daughter. She was, no pun meant, electrifying. Tamara puts the ‘grace’ into Thalia Grace!
Smart’s appointment as Zeus’ daughter in the Disney series is a particularly poignant role for the young actress, given she previously played Zeus’ daughter opposite the late Lance Reddick in the popular Netflix series Resident Evil.
I’m grateful and excited to join the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Tamara expressed her reaction to the part, saying, “It’s so close to my heart.”
Lance Reddick and I had often discussed collaborating once more, so portraying his daughter, Thalia, feels both deeply meaningful and a way to honor his memory.
I feel his presence all around me, and I hope to make him proud on this amazing adventure.
Season 2 of Percy Jackson & The Olympians is presently in production and will premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
