For Home Depot, spring is their Super Bowl—the season when homeowners, gardeners, and DIYers are finally able (and ready) to work on spring projects, and visit the home improvement store to load up on all of their must-haves.

Spring Cleaning and Gardening Top the ListLandscaping, Outdoor Grilling, and Power Tools Are Top of the List

According to The Home Depot’s 2025 Spring Project Report, appropriately titled What Are You Working On?, this season individuals nationwide are most concerned with spring cleaning and gardening.

But aside from the strictly functional advantages of these and other home repairs, the report finds that most Americans view these tasks as a morale booster.

In a news statement, Billy Bastek, executive vice president of merchandising at The Home Depot, stated, “Spring projects help cure’spring fever,’ so we’re excited to offer the tools, products, and expert advice needed to refresh homes and gardens.”

Spring Cleaning and Gardening Top the List

In a survey, conducted by The Home Depot among all 50 states and 100 respondents per state, spring cleaning led the list of projects individuals intend to do this season with 68%, followed closely by gardening with 67%.

For springtime cleaning, it wasn’t a matter of deeper cleaning tasks like the kitchen or closet cleaning they were most interested in doing during this season—71% will be cleaning windows and screens and 64% will be utilizing fans and lighting fixtures.

Then read the following statement: “80% of spring cleaners say it’s hard to start cleaning projects, but they feel a great sense of accomplishment once it’s done.”

On the gardening front, 70% of individuals will revitalize their plants seasonally, and 65% indicate they’ll make weeding and clearing out their gardens a priority at the beginning of the gardening season.

And an astonishing 94% of the gardeners polled indicated that planting flowers, vegetables, and herbs that can handle their regional climate is essential.

Landscaping, Outdoor Grilling, and Power Tools Are Top of the List

In addition to gardening and cleaning, three other spring projects were top priorities for the homeowners and renters surveyed: landscaping and outdoor grilling were equal at 57% and outdoor power tool projects at 55%.

Mulching garden beds and overall lawn care were among the most favored projects in landscaping—which is understandable, as spring lawn care is necessary for healthier grass all the way through fall

For grillers, grill cleaning and renewed grill accessories were the greatest needs, followed closely by mowers and trimmers, and power tools to repair outdoor structures.
